Subject: Prayer for permission to stage a drama.
We, the students of Class X, beg most respectfully to state that like every year, we are going to arrange a cultural function on the occasion of the 21st February this year. In the function, we would like to stage a drama to make the function more attractive. We have decided to perform the drama “Kobor” by Munir Chowdhury. The students will be able to learn about our Language Movement in 1952 from the drama. They will also come to know about the great sacrifices of our language martyrs . Actually, such a drama will inspire the students to do something noble for the country in future. So, we badly need your kind permission to stage the drama on the occasion.
We, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to permit us to stage the drama and oblige thereby.
On behalf of the students of Class X
Milestone School, Uttara.
Deforestation means cutting or burning down trees at random. Deforestation is very harmful for a country and its people. In the developing countries, people cut trees largely. There are some causes of cutting trees. Firstly, we cut trees to earn quick money from them. Secondly, we need wood to cook food. Thirdly, we make houses and furniture with wood. Then, the dishonest people cut trees illegally from the forests. The result of cutting trees is very dangerous. Trees are very useful for us. Trees give us oxygen. Oxygen is a must for us. We cannot live even for a few minutes without it. Again, trees take in carbon dioxide which is harmful for us. Besides, trees give us wood, shade and many other things. The most important thing is that trees protect the top soil from flood. The top soil is very important for growing crops. Trees help to prevent natural disasters. But, if we cut down trees, the world will become warmer and unsuitable for living. As a result, some parts of our country will go under water soon. So, we should take some necessary steps to stop cutting trees. The govt. has already started tree plantation program. We all have to make the program successful. We also have to make the village people understand the importance of trees. Our slogan should be- “If we cut one tree, we must plant two”. Thus we can make the world a better place to live in.
A Visit to a Place of Historical Interest
Visiting means to go somewhere for short stay. People visit different places for different purposes. Some visit for official purposes; some for work and some visit for pleasure and joy. Visiting a place is both enjoyable and educative. It widens our knowledge about places around us and broadens our outlook on life.
If one likes to visit a place, it is better to visit a place from where one can learn something besides getting pleasure. For this purpose, a historical place is the best. Mainly, students should pay a visit to some historical places. This will help to increase their knowledge and this knowledge will help them to build their career in future.
A few days ago, I got a chance to go to Bagerhat. Bagerhat is a place of historical interest. At first, I visited the mazar of Khan Jahan Ali. The mazar is a one-storey building. It is the grave of Khan Jahan Ali. There is a pond near the mazar. People call it the ‘Dighi of Khan Jahan Ali’. There are crocodiles in the pond. I gave the crocodiles muri and bread. On the full moon night of Chaitra, a big fair is held near the pond. Many people come to the fair and enjoy themselves. After that, I visited the Shat Gambuj Mosque. The mosque was built by Khan Jahan Ali, a saint, who wanted to bring people to the path of Islam. However, the mosque is very beautiful. It has a nice large dome on top of it. Though the mosque is called Shat Gambuj Mosque, it has 77 domes. It has 25 doors and many open arches . It has a good ventilation system. It looks very simple from outside, but its inner western wall is beautifully decorated with terracotta flowers and leaves. Every year, many people come to see the mosque. There is another pond near the mosque. People call it the ‘Ghora Dighi’. Bagerhat is really a place of historical interest. I passed 8 hours at Bagerhat. I returned home at night.
I was very happy to visit such a place. As it was my first visit to a historical place, I can never forget it. I wish I could go to such visit again and again.
